Hey
everyone, this past week has been crazy. Last Tuesday, Elder Neil L. Andersen
spoke to us at the devotional. His message was about sacrifice and adversity
and opposition, he told us what we should expect and what we need to do to keep
new members and keep ourselves out of Satan's grasp. I found it really
powerful.
Then
on Wednesday during lunch Elder Gaylord told us he had to go home. He told us
he was having health problems and the counselors told him the only way to treat him
was to send him home. When he left, we were all really sad. We started class
afterwards by singing "God be wtih You Till We Meet Again" and I
started crying quite a bit, then we all cried a lot after our teacher prayed
for Elder Gaylord right after the hymn. The rest of the day was just sad for
all of us. It was hard to believe such a bad day could happen right after such
a good day like the Tuesday before, but I feel that our district got more
unified after Wednesday.
On
Thursday, Frère Adams taught about the Plan of Salvation. He went into depth
about the massive importance we have because our time is minuscule in eternity.
He emphasized the importance of us showing others the eternal perspective,
because our problems seem so much lighter when we see the eternal perspective.
His lesson hit us all so hard that we didn't speak a word at all at dinner
afterwards.
Then
yesterday, both Frère Adams and Pistorius taught really powerful lessons about
the importance of the Book of Mormon and making your mission sacred ground. We
have really good teachers.
I
saw Elder Ortiz and Elder Richards on Sunday. I forgot to mention that a member
of my branch presidency, Roger Maher, is the man who did the baptismal
interview for the Presiding Bishop in the church, Gérald Caussé!!! Isn't that
crazy!! I'll be sure to get a picture with Brother Maher before he leaves.
The
MTC is for real!!!

Our
district doesn't like to play soccer so we don't really play soccer, but in our
zone there are two Elders from England. One of them is from Preston and he
lives really close to the Temple. His favorite EPL team is Everton even
though they're bad. His name is Elder Little and he's really nice. The food at the
MTC is okay, but we get Papa John's for dinner every Friday, so that's awesome.
Having breakfast at the temple is so good. I wish we could eat there everyday.
I've
had to shave about 3 times here. So that's interesting.
You
guys met Bishop Caussé??? That's awesome. He's like my hero now. I hope
what he said about Latinos in Belgium was true because I really want to go
there.

Hola a todos, la semana
pasada estuvo de locura. El martes vino a hablarnos el élder Neil L. Andersen
en el devocional. Su mensaje fue acerca del sacrificio, la adversidad y la
oposición, nos dijo lo que debemos esperar y lo que debemos hacer a fin de
mantener a los nuevos miembros y a nosotros mismos fuera del alcance de
Satanás. Su mensaje me pareció muy poderoso.
Pero el miércoles,
durante la comida, el élder Gaylord nos informó que tenía que irse a su casa
porque estaba teniendo problemas de salud y los consejeros le dijeron que la
única manera de recibir tratamiento era que se regresara a su casa. Así que
cuando se fue, todos nos pusimos bien tristes. A la hora de las clases
comenzamos con el himno “Para siempre Dios esté con vos” y yo comencé a llorar.
Después de que el maestro hizo la oración y pidió por el élder Gaylord, todos
comenzamos a llorar. El resto del ese día fue triste para todos. Era difícil
creer que el día había sido tan difícil justo después de haber tenido un martes
sensacional, pero también sentí como el distrito es aún más unido después del
miércoles.
El jueves, Frère Adams
nos habló del Plan de Salvación. Nos explicó con lujo de detalles de la enorme
importancia que tenemos debido a que nuestra vida es sólo un segmento minúsculo
en la eternidad. Hizo hincapié en lo importante que es que ayudemos a los demás
a ver las cosas con una perspectiva eterna, ya que de esa manera nuestros
problemas se vuelven menos complicados. Su lección nos llegó tanto que durante
la cena no dijimos ni media palabra.
Ayer, Frère Adams y
Pistorius nos dieron unas clases buenísimas sobre la importancia que tiene el
Libro de Mormón y sobre cómo hacer que nuestra misión sea terreno sagrado.
Realmente tenemos muy buenos maestros.
El domingo vi al élder
Ortiz y al élder Richards. Se me olvidó decirles que un miembro de la
presidencia de mi rama, el hermano Roger Maher, fue el que entrevistó al nuevo
Obispo Presidente de la Iglesia, ¡Gérald Caussé!, cuando éste se iba a
bautizar. ¡Qué buena onda! Me voy a asegurar de tomarme una foto con el hermano
Maher antes de que se vaya.

Papi:
A los de nuestro
distrito no les gusta jugar fútbol, pero en nuestra zona hay dos élderes de
Inglaterra. Uno es de Preston, vive cerca del templo y su equipo favorito de la
EPL es el Everton, con todo y que es malísimo. Se llama élder Little y es buena
onda. La comida del CCM está buena, los viernes nos dan de cenar pizza de Papa
John's y eso me encanta. El desayuno que sirven en el templo es buenísimo,
ojalá pudiéramos comer ahí todos los días.
Ya me he afeitado tres
veces aquí, ¿qué tal?
¿Conocieron al obispo
Caussé? Qué buena onda, él es ahora uno de mis ídolos. Espero que haya muchos
latinos en Bélgica como él dijo porque tengo ganas de ir allá.
