Hey, I had an awesome week, let me tell you all about
it.
En fait, On Friday we had another baptism in the paroisse (ward).
The sister missionaries' ami, Nina, got baptised. She was really good friends
with a less-active, and within a relatively short amount of time, both of them
started going back to church and Nina got baptised within a month of her first
Sunday at church. She is now the first member in her family. Both of her
parents were at the baptism, and the most touching part was right after the
service when she ran out of the water to hug her mom and both of them were full
of tears. The spirit was very present during the entire service.
We visited our investigator who is in a rehabilitation center again last week to start the Seven Day Smoking Program, but he is very scared. He wants to put it off for some
time to get with doctors to treat it. It's a tough situation because he wants
to quit, but he is very uneasy about the seven day program. We fasted for him
specifically yesterday and pray for him together frequently. I know he can do
it, he just needs more power from the power-source. Our faith will be tested
throughout this week as he will start the Seven Day Smoking Program this
Wednesday. We all have to have enough faith that this miracle can happen and I
believe it will happen.
Yesterday, we ate at Diogo Silva's apartment. He's the
Brazilian guy. He had a less-active member from Brazil, too. His name is Alan
and he's about 19 years old. He said he's being pressured a lot by his uncle to
go on a mission, but he's not sure if he wants to go or not. We talked to him a
lot about what we felt and our perspective. We had a great conversation in Spanish/Portuguese.
And one thing that Alan said to us was very interesting. He said he didn't like
how the other missionaries in the ward are very serious and they don't look
like they're having fun. He said he likes us because we look happy doing the
work. He said a missionary should always look happy.
I should never forget that.
We get transfer news this week! And I'm done with my
training next week!

Esta
semana me fue muy bien, déjenme contarles lo que pasó.
En fait, el viernes tuvimos
otro bautismo en el paroisse (barrio).
Se bautizó una ami de las hermanas misioneras que se llama Nina. Ella es muy
amiga de alguien que es menos activo y en un periodo de tiempo relativamente
corto ambos comenzaron a ir a la Iglesia y Nina se bautizó menos de un mes
después de su primer domingo en la Iglesia. Ahora, ella es la primera miembro
de su familia. Sus padres asistieron al bautismo y la parte más emotiva fue
cuando ella salió del agua, abrazó a su mamá y las dos estaban con los ojos
llenos de lágrimas. El Espíritu se sintió muy fuerte durante todo el servicio.
También
visitamos otra vez a nuestro investigador que está en un centro de
rehabilitación para ayudarle a comenzar el programa para dejar de fumar en
siete días, sólo que tiene miedo. Quiere dejar el programa para después y dejar
que los médicos se encarguen de su tratamiento. Es una situación difícil,
porque él quiere dejar el cigarro pero le incomoda la idea del programa de los
siete días. Ayer ofrecimos un ayuno especial y con frecuencia oramos juntos por
él. Sé que lo puede lograr, pero sólo necesita
más poder de la fuente de todo poder. Esta semana nuestra fe se verá sometida a
prueba si logramos que comience el miércoles el programa de los siete días.
Todos debemos tener la fe suficiente para que ese milagro ocurra y creo que
ocurrirá.
Ayer
comimos en el departamento de Diogo Silva, el brasileño. Con él estaba un
muchacho menos activo que también es de Brasil. Se llama Alan y tiene como 19
años. Nos contó que tiene un tío que lo presiona mucho para que vaya a la
misión, pero no está seguro de querer ir. Hablamos mucho con él al respecto y
le manifestamos la forma en que nos sentimos y nuestro punto de vista. Tuvimos
una gran conversación en español-portugués. Alan dijo algo que me pareció muy
interesante. Dijo que no le gustaba ver que los otros misioneros que sirven en
el barrio se ven demasiado serios y parece que no la están pasando bien en la
misión. Agregó que nosotros le caemos
bien porque nos vemos felices trabajando en la obra y que un misionero siempre
debe verse feliz.
Nunca
debo olvidar eso.
¡Esta
semana nos avisarán de los cambios! ¡Y la próxima semana terminaré mi
entrenamiento!
El
tiempo vuela cuando uno la está pasando bien. ¡Eso es to, eso es todo amigos!
